Russia Energy Revenue Drops

Russia had a business case when there were still ample supplies of easy oil and gas. Especially when much of the old, written-off Soviet infrastructure could be used. They understood those dynamics 30 years ago but the last 15 years were a journey towards ever more hubris and grandstanding. Remember the BRICS bubble? We in the west marveled at the Russians and the Chinese as wonderboys and girls. When in fact they were always “slave labor dependent resource exploitation economies”. One the stuff from below their feet, the other cheap labor. Russia has never even tried to develop an entrepreneurial class. Now it’s too late.
