Russia’s hand: weaker than it seems
Russia has thrown its state problems to its own population to resolve. Devaluation feeds the inflation monster and Russians are already now stretched thin. Their sense of property just hangs on by a thread. Prices will rise, maybe even drastically so. Debt becomes dearer to repay. Russians are not the most coddled people on this planet and they are used to some suffering. But when an abused population starts to think that it has nothing to lose anymore and that the government cannot be trusted with its future, they might become a bigger problem than Putin ever had to wrestle with. Putin has the short stick. He just bluffs.
