SEA-LNG Argues LNG Far Cheaper Than Ammonia or Methanol

Even bio-LNG is cheaper than Ammonia for one simple reason. Imagine some of the ammonia leaks. If there are people on this ship there will soon be corpses and if it leaks into the seawater it’s going to sterilize a big part of the ocean. Is this a risk we are comfortable with? Transporting large volumes of Ammonia must be accompanied by very stringent safety measures and that is expensive. No such thing required with LNG as its neither corrosive nor is it toxic in any way. If there is a leak, it just poofs away into the atmosphere and harmlessly dissolves into water and CO2.
