Sempra wants to become one of North America’s biggest LNG exporters
Road diesel consumption in the US is almost the equivalent of 500 million tons of LNG per year. Global LNG trade in 2017 was almost 300 million tons. This means that if only 10% of the US road diesel market flipped over to LNG in the next 10 years, 50 mtpa of LNG capacity would be needed to cover it. I don’t think everything will be exported in the future. LNG as a fuel had a long and slow start, but it gathers momentum.
Sempra Energy is working aggressively to become one of the biggest liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporters in North America, the California energy company’s Chief Executive Jeff Martin told Reuters on Wednesday.
