Singapore aims to be Asia LNG hub as demand soars
Singapore is a center of trade for Asia. Singapore is smart and Singapore has high ambitions in LNG. But Singapore is also a tiny nation with a tiny market for gas and practically zero capability to offer structured gas products. One cargo too much and tanktops are toast, one cargo does not come and calamity strikes for the utility. A performing hub must be able to do more than smart contracts. It needs to be able to provide services that cannot be easily had otherwise. This is hard to do there. China would be a much better place and its less than perfect.
