Anything humans do changes the environment. We like to dream of the good old times when things were better. Like before the industrial revolution when mankind was one with nature – except that it was not. There is no big game in the Middle East, anymore because humans hunted it to extinction. Same for Greek lions. We have changed this planet but guess what, we are not first. Countless lifeforms have come and changed the planet. Imagine that at some point in Earth’s history about 2,4 billion years ago, cyanobacteria released oxygen to the environment which was toxic to most life that existed. One of the biggest mass death events in planetary history and it was not humans. But guess what – that was needed to enable multicellular life. What those teenagers want is not possible – except if all humanity ceases existing. Is that what they want?
