Solar panel fire season is all year round and it’s getting more intense in Australia

Now honestly, would you have factored the increased risk of fire into your calculation when you decided to put solar panels on the roof? Right, neither would I have. I mean, who thinks of a simple solar panel to increase fire risk? But we have to. Things are not simple and many homeowners who have come to rue the day when they have put those panels up are trapped. Pull them off and a new roof is in order. That being said, we can learn from the experiences of others. There may be a good way to deal with all this. It just pays to have it on top of your mind when you make it up.

Weak regulation and a lack of mandatory inspections have increased fire risks for the one in four homes with rooftop PV panels. Here’s what we need to do to be safer.
