Somewhere Between “No More Meat” and “It’s a Hoax:” The Electoral Case for Commonsense Environmentalism

Common sense? There has been no common sense for a long while. No one with common sense will dispute that there should be no islands of plastic in the sea but banning straws in Europe won’t get us there as more than 90% of all the waste comes from 5 rivers, and none of them is in Europe. No one will dispute that poisons such as diesel particulate matter of NOx do not belong in the air but CO2 is no poison but rather plant food and the basis for all life on the planet. Rich countries are generally much better at protecting the environment and current policies are destined to make us very poor so we will go back to true pollution. Thats what today’s green policy does.
