Study quantifies metal supplies needed to reach EU’s climate neutrality goal
Yes, and how many of those metals are renewable? We have our terminology totally wrong. We call wind and solar renewables while the means to capture those energies are very costly in terms of materials needed to produce one unit of energy. The material needs for nuclear, coal, oil, and gas are minuscule compared to the diffuse energy forms. So in a sense, their environmental impact is a lot lower. Renewable is whatever we can reproduce at will from nature and in that sense, any planetary process that does so is renewable. That would include oil and gas.
