Guyana, the Argentinian shale, now Surinam. Together with what happens in the US shale world the Americas open a new chapter of energy security. This means that in an increasingly deglobalized world, the American supercontinent can not only stand on its own feet without any input from the rest of the world. It also defines very much where the journey goes from here on. The Americas have the option of staying out of the trouble of the EurAsAfrica megacomplex courtesy of two massive oceans protecting it and a resource base to boot. The next 50 years won’t be anything like the last 50.
