Surprising science – There’s no such thing as clean energy
The term “Clean Energy” is as misleading as a term could possibly be. We should try to measure impacts and when we do so positive impacts should be weighted up with negative ones. Old diesel engines cause negative impacts through their emissions but their positive impact is that they enable logistics at a cost that allows even poor people to live decent lives. Wind energy causes no direct emissions but plenty of emissions when those devices are being produced and erected and their energy is unreliable and makes energy-expensive so that poorer people cannot afford it anymore. Who wants to tally things up?
