Tanker Carrying Sanctioned Russian LNG Tries Ship Transfer

Anyone who has an inkling of how expensive those operations are also has an impression of how desperate the Russians must be by now. I never took to the story about cheap LNG from the Arctic anyhow. Doing anything there is very hard and hence commensurately expensive. Transport is another pile on the cost stack as they need ice-class tankers to get the product out of the danger zone (the ice zone) and that has a price tag too. And now this – transfer in open water under less than ideal circumstances. Let’s not forget the discounts that must be given. Can they even cover their costs?
