Texas is going big on desalination

Texas also has a lot of wind power that constantly tries to kill the grid. Lots of wind power is unusable and must be stored expensively. This could help. Desalination needs a lot of electricity and could be amped up whenever wind power brings the grid to its limits. Desalinated water could be the energy storage that the promoters of unreliable energy have dreamt of. It won’t convert back to energy, but who cares if the result is a marketable product. This won’t make wind and solar cheap. All it does is reduce the horrible cost stack on those two. Better to scrap the causes for unreliable grids altogether.
