That Way Madness Lies
About a year ago, I had an online conversation with a friend about Mexico. I had not been to Mexico in decades and was worried about the safety situation there. Then he asked me how I did in Africa. I asked him what he meant. He told m that he knew I was absolutely comfortable roaming around countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, The Niger Delta, Sudan, and the north of Nigeria. I crossed Egypt on a bicycle at the height of the Islamist uprising and walked the bush close to the Somali border in Kenya with locals. He asked me how the hell I was not concerned then and I was worried about Mexico. He was right. Any place can be dangerous or not – it’s often a matter of perspective. A perspective that Alarmists don’t have. They need to et out and do some living.
