The Chump Effect
When I was a boy, I learned that playing by the rules brings rewards. I grew up in the sticks so things were more simple than in the cesspool the city was seen to be. Not that it was true but we somehow believed those things. Then I learned that there is a good political party and the others are bad people. I acted as if there was an invisible scorecard over my head tallying up all my actions. How naive I was. Those who play by the rules are always losing out. Those who break the rules may score a short win but they also lose out in the end. It’s only those who game the rules that win consistently. They call themselves elites. There is no reason to follow them on anything.
