They also don’t really care. If one lives for a while in a bubble that’s totally disconnected from the pressures every regular person is subjected to, things change. Problems that produce hair-raising consequences are suddenly solvable with the stroke of a pen. They don’t need to enjoy the consequences of those actions. If money is just a number and you never have to expend any effort to get it, it becomes a number. But elites like to forget that from time to time, people snap and do what none of them can imagine. Nobody wishes for that but if and when it happens, they have only themselves to blame.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
