Give one thousand persons 10.000 USD and a year and start them off on a strict basis of equality. After the year you will see stark differences between them. Some will have prospered, some will have completely failed. Some will be happy, some not so. Some will have enjoyed their time and come back with tales to recount, some won’t even come back. People are different because they want to be different. And that’s a good thing. I always enjoyed people who are wildly different from me. They offer perspective. What perspective is to be gained if we are all the same? What we do is level people towards the bottom. How is that a good thing?

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
