He who controls the data controls the science. True words. It’s telling that data collection has gone from human-understandable methods like reading a thermometer to satellite measurements. NASA will say now that many regions of the Earth can only be done by satellite on a consistent basis and that’s true. But who determines what a particular reading is? Those distance measurements involve massive amounts of assumptions and settings that make certain assumptions. No normal person understands this process anymore so fiddling with them is just too tempting – I mean, who will ever know?
