The importance of distinguishing climate science from climate activism

It’s one of the defining issues of our time. How can we build back the house of trust and credibility that science used to be able to sit in? Because that tower has been burned to the ground and the leftovers have been pulverized. It’s not only climate scaremongering that is to blame. Sure, scientists are only humans, and like everyone else they are motivated by greed, advancement, delusions of power, and every other human flaw. And as in any other domain, the laws of idiocy hold just as much as anywhere else. This generation won’t forget what happened and we won’t ever trust them again but we can build better verification mechanisms with sanctions that have teeth on them. Scientists must be exposed to the light of transparency and accountability.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
