The Inconvenient Truth About Solyndra

We like to forget that government support has another, much more fitting name. It’s taxpayer money being thrown at stuff. In a normal world (not an ideal because before we can even think of ideal things must move away from batshit crazy as things stand now) one would expect that those who take spending decisions would do so carefully. But thats not the case. So there should be clear-cut rules. Subsidies can only be used for R&D or help with CAPEX in order to kick off a project. It should not be an eternal waterfall for projects that cannot even come close to marketability. And there must be sanctions for those who break the rules – sanctions with real teeth.
