THE IPCC REPORT IS A WAKE UP CALL FOR SCHOLARS, ADVOCATES, AND PHILANTHROPISTS
Let’s bring some honesty into this and say what the IPCC report does not say but what it would mean if we followed through on this. The worlds people cannot hope to live in some decent comfort if those recommendations wold be followed through to the point. A large majority of people would not be able to afford personal mobility anymore. There will be more “heating or food” debates and independent living might be a thing of the past as livable conditions will cost too much for the average person to afford. That’s perfect breeding ground for populists and politicians know this. They know that if reality breaks through, they face doom at the next election, so they keep making grand announcements and do nothing as it would cost them their political careers.
More than 170 countries pledged as part of the 2015 United Nations climate treaty to keep global temperature rise this century to lower than 2 degrees C above pre-industrial levels and to strive to remain below 1.5C.
