The MENA region as a driver of the global hydrogen future?

Middle Eastern oil exporters face a life-threatening problem: their national budgets rely heavily on oil and gas exports, making them hostage to price swings. North America, the world’s biggest oil consumer, is increasingly out of reach due to shale production and Trump-era energy dominance policies. That leaves Europe and Asia, but they too import from North America and are teetering on the edge of recession. The result is long-term oversupply—bad news for prices, worse for producers. Many are hoping for a miracle like hydrogen, but it won’t deliver anytime soon.
