For the last 30 years, we have watched the very slow, gradual demise of globalism. There are not many that would remember a world before globalism anymore. My father pushes 90 years and after WW2 – which he experienced as a kid – the globalist order was quickly rolled out. It was America’s antidote to the Soviets. And when the Soviets dissolved into thin air, self-interest was able to rear its head again. It’s not a bad thing. We are all self-interested. The globalist order was self-interested. And while it was, it was more healthy. Europe is in serious trouble as it got used to a free ride courtesy of US military protection. But the US will emerge stronger than ever before. Trouble on the way cannot stop this train.

Western democracies must develop practical methods to build sustainable economies unhampered by draconian approaches to climate change.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
