56 square km for a little more than 2 Gigawatt – a similarly powerful nuclear plant would take about 20 times less space. And we are not even factoring in the intermittency of the solar plant which makes its footprint far bigger still. And that is supposed to be sustainable and environmentally friendly. I passed by a much small solar plant here in Austria some months ago. I was curious about what the floor looked like under the panels. It’s a veritable wasteland. That is true planetary destruction. How dare we?
