The Role Of Critical Minerals In The Clean Energy Transition

Most people have an idea that the minerals needed for those green technologies are just more of what they are used to. Steel, copper, zinc – metals we have been used to since the dawn of humanity. Get the ore, smelt it, purify and then do what you do. Not by a long shot for most of them. Many of them are actually not are at all. They are hard to filter out of the soil and there you basically have one of two choices. Either you do it sustainably and that’s going to cost you a fortune. Or you basically destroy the entire region you are mining in and have it cheaper. Thats what we do now.
