These flexible solar cells bring us closer to kicking the fossil-fuel habit
Miracle solar cells. What’s not to love? And to top it off they also store the energy from sunlight and release it whenever humans need it instead of when the sun shines. Oh wait – they don’t do that? Well, that’s the real problem solar (and wind) has. More efficiency is nice – even when it’s still petty theoretical. Cheaper cells is nice too, but on demand, energy would be the real holy grail.
No solar material has managed to supplant silicon. Perovskites, which are far cheaper and can be made into flexible modules, could change that.
