This island nation is making the fastest-ever shift to renewables
Who does not like a freebie? However, will we get to see real operational data like installed cost and operational cost plus the balancing solution when solar and wind is not available? Right now those islanders might pay double the rate mainland US citizens pay because they use diesel generators to get it. But Germany pays way more than double the US going rate, and they don’t have the diesel genset situation. So, are we being fed a big, ugly turd as some freebies will create the impression that renewable energy is so cheap or will we get the real data? I have a hunch …
Like most islands, Palau, a Pacific island nation that bills itself as a pristine paradise, currently relies on diesel fuel to supply almost all of its electricity.
