Time for Democrats to Embrace Pragmatism in Climate Policy

It’s tough to escape once you have chosen the road to madness. It usually takes a major calamity for their voters to accept what needs to be done and thats not even on the horizon for them. Losing an election to Trump can even be leveraged by some of their elements and as long as those threaten to either be humored or they leave the platform, it will get even harder. The extremists will make sure that more and more moderates stay away or turn over to the other side. And any hint of moderation will make the fringes mad losing them the election this way. We may see a long stretch of Republican dominance. But politics being politics, we can always expect madness to creep out from under any stone. Stay alert – it’s not over.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
