Truck operators down on diesel, up on natural gas
It is the money – stupid. We can twist it and shake it however much we want. Real change comes only when purses are tight and people have to cut the frills. Using diesel as a fuel is a frill today as its very expensive. You do that if you don’t have the LNG option but in much of the developed world, there is not much of an excuse. LNG can be had at many places which are still pretty much pure diesel territory. Don’t get me wrong – I have no beef with diesel when emissions are not being played with. But people tend to forget that LNG is not only the cleaner fuel. It’s cheaper too.
