UK news media campaign against oil and gas exploration
Media lives from drama and disaster. In our fast-paced world, there is not nearly enough real disaster to feast on. or it’s far removed from our daily lives. The plight of children working in the coltan mines in Africa or those living in the electronics garbage dumps is virtual for us. We need fear that strikes us as imaginable – even if it’s entirely imagined. In fact, most of our fears are imagined. But all scare stories wear off in time. Here is a new one – energy scarcity and economic plight striking many in developed nations. Big media will feast on that too and it won’t be imagined anymore but all too real.
