Cults like the climate movement only have traction as long as people believe in them. And people believe in them as long as there is no other big monster that will devour us. The problem is that the constant diet of ever more horrible scenarios continues to umb our senses and in a while, what looks so horrible just months ago will be adapted to with no problems at all. Just loo at COVID. In March, everyone sheltered in place and hunted every imagined germ. Today, people are way more relaxed about it. But COVID is real so there is a constant reminder. Climate Change just costs money we don’t have anymore and without pain, we won’t be shocked as we were in the past.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
