US LNG pause opens opportunities to Middle East gas producers, Woodside CEO says

That’s what it would look like but – not really. Middle Eastern LNG producers respond to their own logic and economics. Sure, in a way, every LNG producer competes with others but to get projects off the ground you need a long-term commitment from a buyer providing the necessary collateral for the financing. This supposes a very deep and long-term partnership between seller and buyer that’s built up over way more than a few months only. Sophisticated buyers know fully well that no matter who is the next resident of the White House, the ban will be relaxed as it’s bad for the economy and jobs. Middle East producers do what they need to do independent of what happens in the US.
