US: Peterbilt unveils new natural gas engine for its medium duty vehicles
The current batch of natural gas engines is still mainly a re-development from the venerable diesel engine. This means that the majority of NGV-engines still have the diesel genetics in their build. Only a few companies have gone back to the drawing board and pulled pure breed NGV engines off their assembly lines. We need more of those as firstly, many of the NG issues will go away, and secondly, all the best advantages of Natural Gas can be exploited much better. NG is no fringe fuel.
