This is bad, but it’s not unexpected. And there is no quick fix to this. The only way to deal effectively with the Houthi problem is a land invasion of Yemen and I don’t see anyone having a stomach for that right now or any time in the future. Maybe Egypt is game as the Houthis destroy their biggest money spinner. What it does is redirect marine traffic around the Cape of Good Hope. If South Africa was not such a mess it would be well poised to take advantage of that. South Africa has always been the one place nobody wants to go to as it is so far out of the way of anything. But thats daydreaming. They won’t get their act together in time.
