Vopak, ExxonMobil to conduct South Africa LNG terminal feasibility study
Many LNG projects have been considered in South Africa, but the one that makes the most sense is in Richards Bay. The harbor is big enough for such a terminal, one spur of the only gas pipeline in South Africa ends there which could go in reverse flow, and they have a lot of native customers right there that would not need a lot of gas transport. South Africa presents a set of unique challenges – one of which is the hairraising regulatory environment. If you have never worked there, you might well go crazy. But professionals with South Africa experience will take care of that. Time to get that done.
