Vopak eyes LNG import terminal in Australia’s Victoria
Just imagine – a few years ago the mere idea of an LNG receiving terminal for Australia would have to be ridiculous. Australia is one of the 3 top LNG exporters and has massive gas reserves. But, it also suffers from two problems. First, it has a quite chequered past with green policies that were not very good for energy security. And second, it’s a pretty big place even while being the smallest continent. Transporting gas in a pipeline has a price. after a certain distance LNG is cheaper.
