Want to Win an Election? Run on Cheap Energy

Cheap energy? That’s nice. But what does such a promise do when you have been in office for the last 4 years and energy has become unobtainium on your watch? Will anyone believe your cozy words? Surprisingly yes, there are always plenty of simps who will gobble up anything their political hero of the day will serve them. Cheap energy while doing your damnest to limit energy production and also make what exists much more difficult – which means more expensive. Sure thing – that sounds like a plan. In a sense, I don’t care who wins. We will suffer – that’s not avoidable at this point. The only question is how big the disaster will turn out to be.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
