When I was a kid, I had long conversations with my grandfather. He had seen action in both World Wars and I asked him how before WW2 an entire nation could possibly have lost its mind to follow a madman. He told me and I could not believe it. I was sure that most people would be rational and even if a minority lost its mind, the majority would not follow. Boy was I wrong. I see my own country Austria going mad on a virus that causes the flu. We are ready to throw basic human rights overboard. And I am afraid we will also throw civilization overboard without thinking twice.
