I grew up with this BS. When I was in my twenties and I tried to hit it off with the ladies it was hip to flash your waste separation credentials. Imagine how shocked I was when I learned that a big part of the garbage I painstakingly separated ended up all mixed up in the incinerator anyway. I did not save the planet after all – and neither did all the ladybirds with all the hip garbage cans with multiple separations in them. We love our little hoaxes.
