Why are we facing an energy crisis when we’re sitting on a gold mine?
I always expected Germany to become the sick man of Europe in energy terms and Germany did not disappoint. But I did not expect Britain to become such an energy disaster and the island also does not have the connections with the rest of Europe that Germany has. In the end, this will turn out to be a good thing. Pain will be severe in Britain and people will suffer but as I also know Britains won’t take it on the chin. They will give Boris quite a bit more than a few headaches for it. And once they turn the page, they will start fixing their energy system. That might happen before Germans get there.
