Why the LNG ‘gold rush’ could soon turn to dust
LNG has not even started to take on the biggest and best vanilla market – the vehicle fuels market. LNG looks expensive at times when you compare it to coal but when you compare it to pumped diesel, it’s still quite OK. But that’s just now. If you look at prices over a longer period you will see that LNG trades at a massive discount on oil products. Just to keep perspective – if the European heavy diesel market turns to LNG by magic, we would not have enough LNG capacity worldwide to cover it. And the North American market is bigger.
