Wind Power Did Cause The Texas Blackouts!
The discussion on the culprit of the Texas debacle is pretty nasty. Very principled opinions clash. But let’s take two steps back and look at the whole. Our power transmission gids were originally built for “on-demand” power to serve a variable market of off-takers. The grids had built-in overcapacity to deal with the outlier events. Some a little more, some a little less. Bringing massive amounts of unreliable power into this grid has destroyed the balance that had existed. In an honest world, there would have been investments in the grid to build resilience. But people would have recognized such investments as attributable to unreliable energy so this was off-limits. Our grids are on the ropes – they cant deal with exceptional strain anymore. On you to decide whose fault this is.
