Without “Gazprom”! Turkey pledges to supply more LNG to EU, but wants long-term contracts

So what Turkey wants is to import LNG and have a long-term guarantee that any trading risk when selling the gas to Europe is borne by Europe forever. Why would Europe not do that directly? There are plenty of LNG terminals and even the situation on the Balkans gets better. Those long-term guarantees would go a long way to establish new import infrastructure where you need it without being on the leash of Turkey. Turkey also cannot provide a lot of flexibility as their gas storage is insufficient for that. Let’s see where this goes.
