‘World’s first’ fifth-generation LNG carrier put to sea months earlier than planned

Nice specs. But what is the fifth generation supposed to mean? A better LNG-to-weight ratio is nice but will not make the donkey scream. Dual Fuel is hardly new and not the killer app it was supposed to be. Oh, all the green wizardry you say. Don’t forget one thing – everything has a price. The more tech you put in, the more can break or go wrong. I remember when the first dual-fuel vessels were in service almost 2 decades ago. Rapid fuel switching was predicted. It hardly ever happened. Those things are not fast, not easy and the potential for things to go wrong is considerable and when that happens, money goes out the window by the pallet. Nice boat – no more.
